TORI is the contemporary picture book for all children by the big tori-man Brian Elstak — a storyteller pur sang. Brian has written down and illustrated the bedtime stories he tells his own children.
TORI tells the bloodcurdling adventure of three brave human children: Cel, Bones and Zi. Armed by a pencil sword, a Colossus shield and a tiger claw, they come to the rescue of their father, the giant tortoise Jean-Michel Tortoise. TORI is an ode to the power of the imagination, against all prejudices. Creepy but not scary. Sweet but not cutesy.
Brian Elstak’s work has been shown in the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam, graces the album covers of many Dutch artists and he animates videos. He wrote TORI in collaboration with writer Karin Amatmoekrim, known for Tenzij de vader (2016), De man van veel (2013) and Het gym (2011).
